Centennial Walk

Sigma Tau Omega will co-host the “ESP 1908 Global Centennial Walk to promote healthy living and celebrate the centennial anniversary of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. Participants may include sorority members, their families, friends, other Greek-lettered and fraternal organizations. The walk will be at the State Capitol south side.

Earn, Save, Prosper Financial Management Workshop for 6th - 9th Graders

Students participate in hands-on activities that focus on career choices, budgeting, saving, and investing their future incomes. This event is free and open to church and community youth groups, boy/girl scout troops and any other organization that works with youth in grades 6-9.

Free Small Business Seminars

Through a partnership with the Women's Business Center of North Carolina, the chapter offers two small business seminars per year. These seminars include workshops on starting a business, marketing a business, pricing, legal issues, and mental health concerns for business owners.

Holiday Business Expo

Annually the chapter and the Ivy Community Service Foundation sponsor a Minority Business Expo. Previously held in April, in its fifth year, the event will move to November to assist vendors in taking advantage of holiday season shoppers.

Women @ Work Professional Networking Retreat

The Women @ Work Networking Retreat is a ½ day event designed for female entrepreneurs and executives to meet the following goals:

  • Develop and strengthen networking skills
  • Highlight the importance of mental and emotional health as it relates to career advancement
  • Learn best practices for success
Senior Resource Fair

Held in partnership with AARP this event provides information for senior citizens and their families on health issues, financial management and recreation.
